Adding and Subtracting 3-Digit Numbers
Learning Objective
I can add and subtract three-digit numbers using expanded form to show regrouping.
Key Concepts
When using expanded form for subtraction, you must expand each number into its hundreds, tens, and ones.
In the problem 803 - 147, you must regroup from the hundreds place because there is a zero in the tens place.
After regrouping, 803 becomes 700 + 90 + 13, and the answer to 803 - 147 is 656.
