Solving and Graphing Inequalities
Learning Objective
to be able to solve and graph them, understand when to reverse the inequality sign, and apply these skills to solve real-world problems. Use inverse operations to isolate the variable on one side of the inequality.
Key Concepts
When solving inequalities, treat the greater than or less than sign the same way you would treat an equal sign.
If you multiply or divide both sides of an inequality by a negative number, you must swap the inequality sign.
When solving the inequality -13x > -5, you must divide both sides by -13, which means the solution is x < 5/13.
