Key concepts students will learn:
- •
Cubism, an art movement invented by Pablo Picasso and George Brock in 1907, was a response to a rapidly changing world shaped by technology, new inventions, and scientific discoveries.
- •
Analytical Cubism used very few colors so viewers would concentrate on the shapes, while Synthetic Cubism incorporated real objects like newspaper and colored paper onto the canvas.
- •
Cubism broke from traditional painting by using multiple viewpoints to break down objects into basic geometrical forms and challenging the idea that art should be a window into a realistic scene.
