Key Concepts

Newton's Second Law explains that unbalanced forces cause objects to speed up, slow down, or change direction.

Newton's Second Law can be expressed with the equation: Resultant Force = mass x acceleration, where force is measured in Newtons, mass in kilograms, and acceleration in meters per second squared.

If the force from your arm is the same, but the mass of an object is much bigger, its acceleration will be smaller.
