I can use primary, secondary, tertiary, and weak stress correctly when reading passages aloud.
Key Concepts
Word stress refers to the emphasis or strength given to a syllable in a word.
Two-syllable nouns and adjectives usually have the main stress on the first syllable, while two-syllable verbs tend to have the stress on the second syllable.
For compound nouns, the stress is on the first part, and for compound adjectives, the main stress is on the second part.
