My View versus the Narrator's View
Learning Objective
I can tell the difference between my point of view and the narrator's point of view in a story.
Key Concepts
In a story told from third person, the narrator is outside of the story, but in a story told from first person the narrator is a character in the story.
A first person story creates closeness between the reader and the narrator, while a third person narrator is necessarily a bit removed from the characters.
In second person, the narrator addresses the story to the reader using the word 'you'.
Practice Questions
This lesson includes 3 practice questions to reinforce learning.

1. Imagine you are telling a story about a day at the park. Give an example of a sentence you might use if you were telling the story from your own point of view (first person).
2. In the story of 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears,' the narrator tells us what Goldilocks is doing and thinking, but we don't know what the bears are thinking. What point of view is the story told from?
3. Think about a time you had to make a difficult decision. Describe how the story would change if you told it from your point of view versus telling it from the point of view of someone who was watching you make the decision.
