Evaluating Expressions
Learning Objective
I can evaluate algebraic expressions with one variable.
Key Concepts
When evaluating an expression, you are finding the value of the expression once you work through it.
When you have a number next to a variable, such as 3m, that means they are being multiplied, so 3m means 3 times m.
When evaluating expressions, use the order of operations, also known as PEMDAS, to know what order to perform the operations.
Practice Questions
This lesson includes 3 practice questions to reinforce learning.
View questions preview
1. Evaluate the expression 5m - 9 when m = 4.
2. What is the value of the expression (24 + 6) / m when m = 4?
3. Choose the correct evaluation of the expression 3m² + 2m when m = 4.
