Solving One-Step Equations
6th Gradeβ’15 minutesβ’Standard 6.EE.B.7
Learning Objective
I can solve one-step equations using inverse operations.
Key Concepts
To solve an equation, rearrange it so the unknown value is by itself on one side of the equal sign.
Use inverse operations like addition or subtraction to isolate the variable, but remember to do the same operation to both sides of the equation to keep it balanced.
To solve for x in the equation x - 5 = 16, you must add 5 to both sides, resulting in x = 21.
Practice Questions
This lesson includes 3 practice questions to reinforce learning.
