I can define audism and explain its impact on the Deaf community.

Audism is the belief that hearing people are superior to deaf, hard of hearing, and late-deafened people.

Audism can lead to communication barriers, discrimination, and deaf and hard of hearing people being looked down on.

The HSDC Equity Team is addressing audism to improve the lives of deaf and hard of hearing staff and clients and break down communication barriers.
