Linking Verbs and Predicates
Learning Objective
I can identify linking verbs and predicates in a sentence.
Key Concepts
Action verbs show what someone or something does, while linking verbs connect the subject to more information about it.
Some common linking verbs are am, is, are, was, were, seem, seems, and seemed.
To determine if a verb is linking or action, see if it shows movement or connects information, and whether it can be replaced with other action or linking verbs.
