Conjugating Stem-Changing Verbs

7th Grade45 minutes

Learning Objective

I can conjugate stem-changing verbs in the present tense.

Key Concepts

Stem-changing verbs, also known as boot verbs or shoe verbs, change in every form except nosotros and vosotros.

In Spanish, there are three types of stem-changing verbs: E to IE, O to UE, and E to I.

When conjugating stem-changing verbs, the forms that create the 'boot' or 'shoe' shape in a conjugation chart are the ones that change, while the nosotros and vosotros forms remain unchanged.
