The letter ‘Y’ can act as a consonant or a vowel.
In single-syllable words, the letter ‘Y’ at the end usually makes the /ie/ or ‘i’ sound, as in the words cry, fry, and try.
In two-syllable words, the letter ‘Y’ at the end usually makes the /ee/ or ‘e’ sound, as in the words baby, city, and sorry.
