Multiplying Fractions

6th Grade15 minutes

Learning Objective

I can multiply fractions by fractions.

Key Concepts

When multiplying fractions, you multiply straight across, so numerator times numerator and denominator times denominator.

To rewrite a whole number as a fraction, put the whole number over one, then multiply straight across.

To convert an improper fraction to a mixed number, divide the numerator by the denominator; the remainder becomes the new numerator.
