Skin Healing Stages in Time-Lapse
Learning Objective
I can describe the stages of skin healing shown in a time-lapse video.
Key Concepts
The largest organ in the human body is the skin, which has a surface area of about 20 square feet in adults.
The four overlapping stages of the skin's regenerative process are hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling.
During hemostasis, a protein called fibrin forms cross-links on the top of the skin to prevent blood from flowing out and bacteria from getting in.
Practice Questions
This lesson includes 8 practice questions to reinforce learning.
