Simplifying Polynomials

10th Grade60 minutes

Learning Objective

I can simplify polynomial expressions by adding, subtracting, and multiplying.

Key Concepts

When multiplying polynomials, we are just using the distributive property repeatedly.

When multiplying (x – 3)(x + 2), you want to multiply every term in the first binomial by each of the terms in the second binomial.

When multiplying larger polynomials, line up the terms like you are doing long multiplication, keeping the constants, x, x², x³, etc. in their proper place.
